Risk management – Medical
Providing patient care and treatment delivery.

Against a background of budgetary and organisational challenges, health and medical social organisations need to adapt their practices and digitalise their processes, while taking into account their growing exposure to technological risk. This paradigm shift is revolutionising healthcare practices and the prevention of medical accidents at European level. It is also reshaping organisations’ and professionals’ responsibilities. At Relyens, we believe that a high level of risk management and defining a long-term global strategy are essential to ensure the continuity of healthcare operations, improve patient safety and enhance staff working conditions.

“Beyond the impact on patients, medical risk presents an important challenge for the organisation and its care teams. It can have serious financial and organisational consequences or affect the organisation’s reputation, or even that of the healthcare professional. To ensure patient and resident safety,it is essential to consider all the risks that can affect the activities involved in providing care, particularly the most sensitive: operating theatres, unscheduled care, gynaecological care and obstetrics. From vulnerability linked to medical practices to risks relating to the availability or the suitability of human and material resources, all the risk factors need to be understood and managed. ”

“Relyens’ approach to medical risks is based on a culture of safety, which implies the collaboration of all the stakeholders involved in the organisation, the sharing of experience and continuous practice improvement. This is a long-term undertaking based on observation and analysis and requires ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders. We are also working to raise awareness of our ecosystems so those involved take ownership of the concept of risk and take appropriate action to go from a system of reaction to one of prevention”.

“Our approach to risk management means overall support, which stems from our in-depth knowledge of the organisations we work with. Once the risks have been mapped using our specialised methodology, we support the customer in identifying priorities for action and implementing specific projects for the prevention and management of the main risks identified. This enables us to build, alongside the company’s representatives, a common path for improvement that leads to synergy creation and lasting relationships based on trust. ”

Our role as Risk Managers is to gain in-depth knowledge of our market, to assess our customers’ vulnerability and to work with them to develop a range of actions that will enable them to do business more safely. This is why in 2023, in addition to continuing to strengthen our more traditional insurance business we have been working on three key areas:
- Understanding how our experts perceive safety in the operating theatre.
- Deepening our knowledge of the Intensive Care environment: its organisation, management, needs and challenges.
- Developing clinical projects linked with the Caresyntax technology tool to make hospitals safer environments.
